Malta Guinness, the headline sponsor of the Ghana Women’s Premier League, has expressed its delight with the significant progress made in the women’s league since their arrival. In August 2022, the Ghana Football Association announced a GHc10 million sponsorship deal with Malta Guinness, marking a significant milestone in the growth of women’s football in the country.

As part of the sponsorship, Malta Guinness supplied free footballs and equipment to clubs participating in the league, enrolled players in the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) program to receive monthly allowances, and made matches available on Max TV.

Ahead of the Champion of Champions match at the University of Ghana Stadium on Saturday, June 8, Dian Adu Asare Darko, Marketing Manager for Guinness Ghana, expressed her admiration for the progress made in the women’s league.

She noted that the crowd at the stadium was a testament to the growth of women’s football in Ghana, which had come a long way since Malta Guinness came on board. According to Darko, Malta Guinness saw immense talent in women’s football but lacked support, prompting their decision to partner with the Ghana Football Association.

Within two years of their sponsorship, Darko observed significant improvements in the league, including increased interaction, attendance, and excitement among fans and players alike. She expressed her pride in the achievements made so far in the Women’s Premier League, which has become a beacon of hope for women’s football in Ghana.

On Saturday, June 8, fans thronged the University of Ghana Stadium to witness the finals in the Women’s division, a clear indication of the significant growth of women’s football in the country. The success of the women’s league is a testament to the power of partnerships and investments in sports, and Malta Guinness remains committed to promoting the growth of women’s football in Ghana.
