EC Plans Three-Day Voter Registration Mop-Up in August

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced its intention to conduct a three-day supplementary voter registration process commencing on the 1st of August.

The exercise will be held across all district offices nationwide, as detailed in a communication addressed to the general secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in anticipation of the December elections.

The letter states, “This serves to notify you that the Commission will be conducting a mop-up voter registration initiative at all its district offices nationwide.”

Additionally, it highlights that registration will be extended to prison centers during this period.

The specified dates for the exercise are from Thursday, August 1st to Saturday, August 3rd, 2024. Further specifics regarding the operation will be deliberated upon during an upcoming IPAC meeting.

Earlier in May, the EC concluded a 21-day voter registration drive, which saw an extension from May 27th to May 29th across its network of 268 district offices countrywide.
