Two individuals have been apprehended by the Ejisu Police in connection to the theft of a 2021 Toyota Highlander belonging to a Ghanaian resident in Canada.

The Ejisu Police have disclosed that additional suspects are currently evading capture and are the subject of an ongoing police manhunt.

As detailed by police investigators the complainant, residing in Aprade, reported that he entrusted his unregistered blue Toyota Highlander, valued at GHC 650,000.00 and imported from Canada, to individuals known as ‘SIR-MAN’ and Yaw Ampong for the purpose of facilitating its sale.

Upon the complainant’s return to Ghana in March 2024, attempts to locate both the car dealers and his vehicle proved futile, prompting him to report the incident to the Ejisu Police.

Subsequent police inquiries led to the arrest of suspects Yaw Ampong and Charles Opoku, who assisted in the recovery of the vehicle for further investigation.

Both suspects have been remanded by the Ejisu Magistrate Court to aid in ongoing investigations, while the impounded unregistered Toyota Highlander remains at the Ejisu Divisional Headquarters.

Efforts are underway by law enforcement to apprehend the remaining suspects still at large.
