Bawumia Launches 3-Day Ashanti Campaign, Reveals Ghana Card As Sole Requirement for Passports Starting 2025

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has begun a three-day campaign tour of the Ashanti region, a key political stronghold for the party.

He met with the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs, announcing that starting next year, the Ghana Card will be the sole requirement for acquiring a Ghanaian passport, simplifying the process.

He highlighted his political experience and the party’s achievements, including digitalization initiatives and the Free Senior High School program.

He also promised to amend the Chieftaincy Act, giving chiefs more powers and increasing their allowances.

The NPP has a strong hold in Ashanti, occupying 43 out of 47 constituency seats in Parliament.

This is the final region on Bawumia’s campaign tour, which has covered all 16 administrative regions.
