Almost All Ghanaians Covered By Health Insurance, Says Miracles Aboagye
- Free dialysis treatments have been announced for children
- He noted that 95% of diseases are now covered by NHIS
- Miracles also highlighted the improvement in ambulance services
The spokesperson for the Bawumia campaign team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has highlighted the achievements of the Akufo-Addo administration in the health sector, particularly in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
He noted that 95% of diseases are now covered by NHIS, including kidney disease, childhood cancer, and sickle cell disease.
Additionally, free dialysis treatments have been announced for children and the aged, while costs for those between 19 and 59 years are being subsidized.
Aboagye contrasted the NPP’s achievements with the NDC’s record, stating that the NDC failed to fulfill their promise to make health insurance a one-time payment and instead saw a decrease in subscribers from 12.5 million to 11.03 million between 2009 and 2016.
In contrast, the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration has increased subscribers from 11.03 million to 17.5 million between 2017 and 2023.
He also highlighted the improvement in ambulance services, with 307 ambulances now serving a population of 28,000 people, compared to 1 ambulance serving 524,000 people in the past.
The introduction of medical deliveries using drones has also contributed to the quick and effective delivery of healthcare services.
Aboagye urged Ghanaians to retain the ruling party in power to continue with the good policies and programs in the health and other sectors of the economy.
