No Evidence in Audio of AG Instructing Jakpa to Implicate Ato Forson in Ambulance Case – Judge
- Judge scrutinizes audio recording involving Richard Jakpa and Attorney General Godfred Dame
- Ato Forson and Richard Jakpa filed applications to halt their prosecutions
- The judge found no indication that the Attorney General instructed Jakpa to implicate Forson
In the ongoing ambulance case, the judge overseeing the proceedings has determined that the audio recording featuring a conversation between Richard Jakpa and the Attorney General, Godfred Dame, does not contain any directive from Dame to Jakpa to implicate Ato Forson.
Applications brought before the court by Ato Forson and Richard Jakpa, seeking to halt their prosecutions, centered on the content of this audio.
The recording was submitted as evidence in support of a mistrial application by Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
Justice Afia Serwah Asare Botwe, after dismissing the Attorney General’s objection to the inclusion of the audio in the trial, reviewed its contents and found no evidence of Dame instructing Jakpa to implicate Forson.
The judge acknowledged the engagement depicted in the conversation between Jakpa and Dame but concluded that it did not align with claims suggesting that the Attorney General urged Jakpa to implicate Forson.
She clarified that the Attorney General did not express a need for Jakpa’s assistance in implicating Forson, noting that such claims originated from Jakpa himself.
Justice Afia Serwah Asare Botwe emphasized that these assertions were made by Jakpa, not by the Attorney General.
However, the judge expressed discomfort over the Attorney General’s interaction with the accused individuals, particularly in requesting Jakpa to provide a medical excuse.
