“NDC Takes Disciplinary Action, Suspends Amenfi Central Executives”

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has taken disciplinary action against some of its executives in the Amenfi Central Constituency, suspending them for alleged anti-party activities.

The affected executives include the constituency chairman, organiser, main and deputy women’s organisers, who have been accused of dragging the party and its parliamentary candidate, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, to court over allegations of forgery of party cards.

According to reports, Joana Kodjo has been injuncted for forgery and holding herself as the parliamentary candidate-elect for the NDC in the constituency. The Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Mustapha Gbande, confirmed the suspension, stating that it is for a period of six months and has been referred to the party’s national disciplinary committee.

Gbande expressed disappointment in the executives’ actions, questioning why they waited until after the elections to raise concerns about the process that elected Joana Gyan Cudjoe as the parliamentary candidate.

He described their actions as “clearly anti-party conduct” and a “calculated attempt to hold the party’s interest to ransom”. Gbande emphasized that the party will respect the ruling of the court but will not tolerate any further misconduct, vowing to “clean” the constituency and prepare it for the 2024 elections.

The suspension is seen as a strong message from the party leadership that it will not condone any behavior that undermines its interests. The development has sparked debate within the party, with some members calling for stricter discipline and others arguing for leniency.

The outcome of the national disciplinary committee’s investigation and any further actions taken by the party will be closely watched by political observers and party members alike.
