Franklin Cudjoe, the Founder and President of IMANI Africa, has voiced his disapproval of the recent decision made by Jean Mensa, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC), regarding the new role assigned to Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, a Deputy Commissioner of the EC.
Formerly in charge of Electoral Services, Dr. Serebour Quaicoe has been appointed as the new Training Director at the EC’s headquarters, according to a letter dated April 30, 2024, signed by Jean Mensa.
In response to this announcement, Franklin Cudjoe expressed his discontent in a post shared on X, dated Thursday, June 6, 2024.
He characterized Dr. Serebour’s new appointment as a demotion, questioning the rationale behind his removal from the Director of Electoral Service position.
Cudjoe highlighted Dr. Serebour’s effectiveness as a communicator and expressed skepticism about his suitability for a training role.
“Jean Mensa demotes Serebour, who actually helps the EC communicate a little better than all the commissioners. Training department paaa? What will he be training people in? Ah!!!!,” Cudjoe remarked in his post.
