Ghana’s U-20 women’s national team, the Black Princesses, have been drawn into Group E alongside Japan, New Zealand, and Austria for the upcoming 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.

The draw, which took place in Bogota on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, revealed the composition of the now-expanded 24-team tournament.

Yusif Basigi’s squad, making their seventh consecutive appearance in the World Cup, faces a challenging group stage as they aim to advance in the competition.

The Black Princesses secured their spot in the U-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup earlier in January with a dominant 7-1 aggregate victory over Senegal in the final round of qualifiers.

Following their impressive performance, including a victory in the women’s football competition at the 2023 African Games, Ghana’s team enters the tournament in good form.

However, their group opponents pose formidable challenges, particularly Japan, the 2018 tournament champions.

Ghana represents one of Africa’s four teams in the competition, alongside Nigeria, Cameroon, and Morocco. Each team faces stiff competition in their respective groups, with Nigeria drawn into Group D, alongside Germany, Venezuela, and the Korea Republic.

The full draw for the 2024 U-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup is as follows:
