Ambulance Leaked Tape: Godfred Dame Turns To Biblical Verses For Solace
- Attorney General affirms his belief in the triumph of righteousness over evil
- Revelations from Richard Jakpa, the third accused, have stirred controversy
- Despite calls for resignation and mounting pressure A-G remains unwavering
Godfred Yeboah, Ghana’s Attorney General and Minister for Justice, sought solace in biblical verses amidst controversy surrounding a leaked tape allegedly implicating him in the ongoing ambulance purchase trial.
Addressing reporters after a recent hearing, Yeboah, quoting scriptures, affirmed his belief that “the righteous will always prevail over evil,” indicating his steadfastness despite the accusations.
The leaked tape has raised eyebrows, with revelations from the third accused, Richard Jakpa, suggesting unusual contact from the Attorney General to solicit testimony against Dr. Ato Forson, the Minority Leader.
Dr. Forson, a former Deputy Finance Minister, faces trial for his alleged involvement in procuring defective ambulances.
The disclosure has ignited public debate, with some calling for Yeboah’s resignation or dismissal. In response, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) played a 16-minute tape purportedly featuring conversations between the Attorney General and Jakpa. Jakpa, standing by his claims, challenges Yeboah to appear in court and refute them.
Despite the mounting legal and public pressure, the Attorney General remains resolute, drawing strength from his faith. “The Lord does not delight in the pleasure of the wicked,” Yeboah asserted before leaving the courthouse.
As the trial progresses, with a verdict expected on June 6, the nation waits in anticipation, watching how this saga unfolds.
