West Ham are on the verge of securing their first signing under new manager Julen Lopetegui.

The Hammers are close to finalizing a €30 million (£25.5 million) deal for 18-year-old Brazilian midfielder Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras.

Director of football Tim Steidten traveled to Brazil to bolster Lopetegui’s squad, and their efforts appear to be paying off.

Initial reports suggested the deal might fall through, but BBC Sport sources now claim it’s nearing completion.

This would mark West Ham’s first transfer since David Moyes’ departure and Steidten’s assumption of control over transfer dealings.

Guilherme, who made his Palmeiras debut at just 17 in 2023, also saw playing time in this season’s Copa Libertadores group stage.

The young midfielder is a promising prospect, and West Ham fans will be eager to see him develop under Lopetegui’s guidance.
