Popular Kumawood actor, Lil Win, appeared in court on Monday, June 3, to face charges of dangerous driving and negligently causing harm, following a fatal accident that occurred on Saturday, May 25. The actor was arraigned before the Asokore Mampong District Court, where he was formally charged with the offenses.

Lil Win’s counsel, Margaret Adjei-Twum, argued for bail, stating that her client had suffered internal bleeding and injuries in the accident and required more time for treatment.

She assured the court that Lil Win, being a well-known person, would not obstruct police inquiries and would make himself available whenever needed. She also provided the court with a medical report from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where Lil Win had been receiving treatment.

The prosecution, led by Inspector Emmanuel Appiah, did not object to the bail application but requested that the accused be available for further investigation into the matter, which is ongoing.

The court granted Lil Win bail in the sum of GH¢50,000 with two sureties, who must be gainfully employed and reside in the jurisdiction of the court.

The case has been adjourned to June 27, 2024, for further proceedings, and Lil Win is expected to reappear in court on that date.

Lil Win was arrested on the morning of Monday, June 3, shortly after his discharge from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for his injuries. The arrest is linked to a fatal accident that occurred on Saturday, May 25, which claimed the life of a three-year-old boy. According to eyewitnesses, Lil Win was driving at a high speed when his vehicle collided with the victim’s car, causing the accident.

The family of the deceased three-year-old has demanded justice for the death of their son, calling for the actor to be held accountable for his actions. They have also called for the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and ensure that justice is served.
