Alan Kyerematen, the Leader of the Movement for Change, has pinpointed systemic flaws and a lack of economic confidence as the root causes behind the depreciation of the Ghanaian Cedi.

Kyerematen warned of the continued devaluation of the Cedi against major foreign currencies unless Ghana ramps up its exports and reduces imports.

During his recent tour in the Eastern Region, Kyerematen outlined a series of strategies aimed at rejuvenating the Cedi’s value.

He stressed the importance of regulating forex bureaus and enhancing export activities as key steps towards stabilizing the currency.

“The value of the cedi hinges on the balance between foreign exchange supply and demand. The solution lies in production and export. Without producing goods for export, we cannot generate the necessary foreign exchange. Unfortunately, this systemic failure has persisted for far too long,” Kyerematen remarked.

Comparing himself to former President Mahama and Dr. Bawumia, Kyerematen asserted that his focus on production and exports uniquely positions him as the candidate capable of revitalizing the Cedi.

Furthermore, Kyerematen urged Ghanaians to move away from empty manifesto promises and embrace a comprehensive national development plan. He highlighted the urgent need for significant constitutional reforms under a government led by the Movement for Change.

“Under the current winner-takes-all dynamic between the NDC and NPP, the voices of many Ghanaians are sidelined. We need continuity and coherence in governance to propel our nation forward. Ghanaians are yearning for a concrete plan, not mere rhetoric,” Kyerematen emphasized.

He proposed a long-term national plan that transcends party lines, ensuring that each successive government builds upon the progress of its predecessors for the betterment of Ghana’s future.
