A court in Asokore Mampong District has granted actor Kwadwo Nkansah, widely known as Lil Win, bail in the amount of GH¢50,000 with two sureties. This comes after his arrest on Monday, June 3, by the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Manhyia Divisional Command, immediately following his discharge from the hospital.
Lil Win’s arrest is connected to a recent accident in which he was driving and resulted in the tragic death of a three-year-old boy. The family of the deceased has been vocal in their demands for justice, while police attributed the delay in Lil Win’s arrest to his health condition.
The actor faces charges of dangerous driving and negligently causing harm. The prosecution confirmed that investigations are ongoing and requested that Lil Win be available as needed. They also cited his health condition as the reason for the delay in the case.
Lil Win’s counsel, Margaret Adjei-Twum, argued that her client suffered injuries, including internal bleeding, and should be granted bail for treatment. She emphasized that her client’s popularity and presence in the country ensured his cooperation with the court throughout the proceedings. The court adjourned the case until June 27, 2024, amidst a significant police presence at the Asokore Mampong District Court.
