Renowned Ghanaian actor, Kwadwo Nkansah, widely known as Lil Win, has been apprehended by authorities from the Manhyia Divisional police command in connection with a devastating accident that led to the loss of a three-year-old child’s life.
The fatal collision occurred in Amakom, Kumasi, just hours before the scheduled premiere of Lil Win’s latest film, ‘A Country Called Ghana,’ at the KNUST auditorium on May 25.
Lil Win was taken into custody upon his discharge from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital on Monday morning and is anticipated to face legal proceedings.
Tragically, Richard Nana Yaw Ampomah succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital on Saturday, May 25, following the collision involving Lil Win’s branded Mercedes Benz.
Reports suggest that Nana Yaw was seated in the front passenger seat of his father’s vehicle when it collided with Lil Win’s vehicle, allegedly traveling at high speed.
Following the accident, Lil Win has been receiving medical care at the Komfo Anokye Hospital. However, his manager and personal guard remain hospitalized for treatment.
Meanwhile, the bereaved family has laid the three-year-old boy to rest, while his father, Jacob Ampomah, continues to receive treatment for a fractured leg sustained in the accident.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, Lil Win faced criticism from the deceased’s family for allegedly neglecting the accident victims and proceeding with his movie premiere on the same day as the incident. Despite sustaining injuries himself, Lil Win defended his actions, stating that he was attending to other injured crew members.
However, following backlash, Lil Win issued an apology for his remarks, acknowledging their insensitivity, and postponed the premiere of his film in Sunyani to mourn with the grieving family.
