Ga Mantse Urges Electoral Commission to Ensure Peaceful 2024 Elections

King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, has called upon the Electoral Commission and other branches of government to take decisive action to guarantee a peaceful outcome for the 2024 general elections.

In an exclusive interview with Citi News, he stressed the critical importance of implementing strategies to foster peace and unity before, during, and after the December 2024 polls.

The Ga Mantse emphasized that the outcome of the 2024 elections hinges significantly on the population in Accra, underscoring the imperative for political parties to respect and engage with the people of the capital city.

“To ensure a peaceful electoral process in 2024, regulatory bodies like the EC and all branches of government, including the executive, judiciary, and legislature, must collaborate to develop comprehensive strategies,” he remarked.

Highlighting the pivotal role of Accra in determining the next president, he urged political parties to prioritize engagement with the city’s residents.

In a bid to promote peace ahead of the elections, the Ga Mantse has erected billboards across the city advocating for unity of purpose.

He called upon the Peace Council and all stakeholders to demonstrate unwavering commitment to ensuring a peaceful electoral process this year, emphasizing the need for collective action to prevent any potential unrest.

“The clergy, including Muslim clerics and the Chief Imam, along with all religious groups in Ghana, must commit themselves to promoting peace. This transcends politics; it’s about safeguarding our nation’s stability,” he asserted.

The Ga Mantse also appealed to the National House of Chiefs and regional and traditional leaders to prioritize peace efforts and ensure a smooth electoral process.

Expressing his personal commitment to peace, he underscored the importance of early awareness and proactive measures to prevent any disruptions, particularly in the capital city, where the stakes are high.
