Ho Traders Mob Bawumia And Hail Him As ‘Saviour’ Of Ghana

Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, received a rousing welcome from traders at the Ho Central Market during his visit to the shopping center. The traders, enthusiastic about his presence, sang NPP-affiliated songs and swarmed Dr. Bawumia as he made his way through the market, familiarizing himself with their concerns.

Dr. Bawumia’s day-long tour in the Volta Region included meetings with the Clergy, Muslim Clerics, Traditional Authorities, and the youth in Ho. As he entered the market, traders began making joyous gestures, with some labeling him as the “savior of Ghana.” Chants of “Bawumia is the only savior” and “No matter what, Bawumia will win” filled the air, while others requested financial support, saying “We need money” and “Throw some of the cash on us.”

The market’s major walkways were packed, causing a human traffic jam, as traders vied for a glimpse of the Vice President. Those lucky enough received handshakes and hugs from Dr. Bawumia.

Earlier, Dr. Bawumia met with religious leaders, clarifying his exposure to Christianity since childhood and his family’s diverse religious background. He sought their views to inform his manifesto and ensure Ghana’s progress and development.

Dr. Bawumia highlighted his digitization agenda, agricultural sector transformation, flat tax system, solar power introduction, reduced import duty, and public electricity buses, among other initiatives. He emphasized the need to reduce transportation costs, stating, “If we bring down the cost of transport, we bring down the cost of living.”

At the Volta Region House of Chiefs, Dr. Bawumia reiterated his commitment to positioning Ghana for the fourth industrial revolution. Togbe Tepre Hodo, President of the Volta Region House of Chiefs, appealed to Dr. Bawumia to use his influence to resolve chieftaincy disputes, citing their negative impact on the country’s image and public purse.

Concluding his tour, Dr. Bawumia addressed students, artisans, and youth at the Youth Connect event, urging them to elect him as the next President of Ghana.
