Floodwaters Claim Three Lives on the Tema Motorway
A devastating car accident on the Tema Motorway has claimed the lives of three individuals, including the driver, Noel Adams, who had been reported missing since Saturday, May 26. The tragic incident occurred when the car Adams was driving plunged into a flooded gutter near the abattoir bridge during heavy rains.
According to his sibling, Adams had picked up two girls from Tema and was heading towards Accra when the accident happened. As he approached the abattoir bridge, the heavy flooding obscured his vision, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. The car veered off the road and fell into the gutter, resulting in the tragic loss of lives.
Pedestrians discovered the submerged vehicle and notified the police, who found the car empty upon inspection. Further searches led to the recovery of a body from the water, while the second passenger’s body was discovered at Tema Community 19. Adams’ body was found days later at a beach in Klagon, with signs suggesting he attempted to exit the vehicle as the windscreen was broken and his door was open when the car was found. It is believed that his body was washed away by the floodwaters.
The identities of the two passengers have yet to be established. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of flooding and the importance of caution during heavy rainfall.
Rest in peace to the victims of this tragic accident.
