  • Eto'o invited Brys but the situation quickly soured

Cameroon’s preparations for upcoming World Cup qualifiers hit a snag on Tuesday, May 28th, as a meeting between federation president Samuel Eto’o and newly appointed coach Marc Brys descended into chaos.

This marked the first encounter between the two, with tensions simmering since Brys’ appointment in April by the sports ministry, bypassing the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT).

Eto’o had invited Brys for a “working session,” but the situation quickly soured. Social media footage captured by reporters shows a cordial welcome from Eto’o, followed by a rapid escalation.

The drama unfolded when Eto’o reportedly ejected a ministry official attempting to attend the meeting. This was followed by a heated exchange with Brys, who promptly walked out.

FECAFOOT, which initially condemned the unilateral appointment by the ministry, is expected to release a statement.

The future of the national team and qualifiers hangs in the balance as the leadership crisis continues.
