Asante Kotoko Seal Historic Double Victory over Hearts of Oak
- Brace by Mukwala
- First league double since 1987
- Ogum's unbeaten streak
Asante Kotoko secured a convincing 2-0 victory against arch-rivals Hearts of Oak, clinching a historic Ghana Premier League double in the process.
Ugandan striker Steven Mukwala emerged as the hero with a brace, his first goal coming in the 9th minute and the second a solo effort deep into stoppage time.
This win marks the first time Kotoko has achieved a league double over Hearts of Oak since 1987.
The victory also extends Coach Dr. Prosper Nartey Ogum’s unbeaten record against their rivals and propels Kotoko to 9th place in the standings.
Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak find themselves in a precarious position, just two points above the relegation zone.
The Phobians face a daunting task in their remaining matches to avoid dropping into the lower division.
