Tanker Truck Drivers End Strike After Reaching Deal on Wages
- Strike ceased
- Union demands
- Resolution reached
Fuel tanker drivers in Ghana have ceased their strike following negotiations concerning their poor conditions of service.
The Ghana National Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union had initiated an indefinite strike, pressing for better remuneration and working conditions.
However, following discussions involving all relevant parties, the drivers have released a statement announcing the end of their strike action.
The statement highlights the adoption of a framework for improved remuneration, with implementation slated to commence by the end of June 2024.
During a press conference, union members expressed frustration over delays in implementing a previously agreed policy framework aimed at enhancing salaries and working conditions.
They singled out the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) and the Ministry responsible for the sector for their failure to act on the policy, which had been pending since November 2023.
