A family member of hiplife icon Okomfour Kwadee, Ezekiel Aguyire, has reached out to the public, urging for financial support to aid in the musician’s treatment.
Ezekiel confirmed that Kwadee, currently residing in Mirigu Nabango, Upper East Region, is battling ongoing mental health issues and lacks the financial means for proper treatment.
“He is unwell, but there’s been a slight improvement. We’re calling on Ghanaians to assist our brother. He shouldn’t be in this state, but due to his illness, he had to leave Kumasi,” Ezekiel expressed.
Despite efforts to seek treatment, financial constraints have hindered access to necessary medical services, prompting Ezekiel to highlight the crucial role of finances in the situation. “Even with solutions, without money, we’re stuck,” he added.
Addressing a recent performance video circulating on social media, Ezekiel voiced his disapproval, questioning whether Kwadee was compensated, given the event was organized by a family member residing elsewhere.
Ezekiel disclosed his role in caring for Kwadee since his relocation to Nabongo two years ago, alongside his mother. He mentioned the recent passing of Kwadee’s father, with the funeral scheduled for the upcoming weekend.
The distressing video of Kwadee has sparked concerns within the music community, prompting discussions about his mental health and financial struggles.
Quick Action, a music producer and Kwadee’s close associate, declined to comment on the video, citing the sensitive nature of the issue.
Background:
Reports have persisted regarding Kwadee’s mental health struggles since his discharge from a rehabilitation facility in 2021. His appearance in the media was brief, with his mother revealing in 2022 that he had been left at a rehabilitation center, an initiative initiated by Lord Kenya in 2020.
