A tricycle rider was injured on Wednesday morning when a weak tree in the Central Business District of Kumasi fell on his vehicle during the busy hours.
The rider, believed to be in his early thirties, was negotiating a curve when the tree’s stem fell on the windscreen of the tricycle, causing his injuries.
Eyewitnesses reported that the tree, which had been observed as weak for weeks, fell on a van with parts of its branches falling on the tricycle. “Since the onset of the rains, the tree had been leaning to one side of the road, showing signs of danger,” eyewitnesses told Luv News.
The incident highlights the need for regular maintenance and inspection of trees in public areas to prevent such accidents.
