Ghanaian socialite Elorm Ababio, popularly known as Ama Governor, is poised to be inducted into the Ghana Bar Association this year, pending no unforeseen circumstances.
Ama Governor’s name appeared on a list of inductees signed by Ghana Law School Director Yaw Oppong. However, a notice from the Registrar clarified that inclusion on the list does not guarantee final confirmation for enrollment.
This development comes after a year-long battle with the General Legal Council (GLC) following a complaint filed in November 2022. The complaint alleged “unbecoming conduct” by Ama Governor, prompting the GLC to pause her bar induction process.

Ama Governor vehemently denied the misconduct allegations, stating she was treated unfairly throughout the ordeal.
“I have faced a year-long battle with the General Legal Council (GLC) after a complaint was filed by a concerned citizen in November 2022. This complaint alleged that I had engaged in conduct that was deemed ‘unbecoming of a bar applicant.’ As a result of this complaint, the GLC paused the process of calling me to the bar. I vehemently rejected the allegations of misconduct, asserting that I had been treated unfairly throughout the ordeal,” she said.

The induction ceremony is expected to take place later this year, pending final confirmation from the GLC.
