The national amputee soccer team, the Black Challenge, has embarked on a thrilling journey to Egypt for the 2024 Africa Amputee Cup of Nations (AAFCON).
On Saturday, the team departed Ghana in style, donning the Accra 2023 African Games attire. With 25 players and the technical team, they exuded confidence in their ability to defend the trophy and qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
Coach Stephen Richard Obeng’s team wrapped up their pre-tournament camping trip in Accra.
Ghana is drawn in Group C alongside Kenya, Gambia, and Algeria.
The Black Challenge faced Gambia in their opener.
The team aims to defend the title they won in the 2021 AAFCON in Tanzania. Recently, they emerged as champions at the 2023 Para Games.
The contingent includes notable players such as Razak Seidu, Atsu Abor, Raymond Frimpong, and others.
Meanwhile, President of the African Paralympic Committee, Samson Deen, is expected to join the team in Egypt today, further boosting their morale.
With high spirits and determination, the Black Challenge is ready to make Ghana proud in the AAFCON 2024 tournament.”
