The Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, has emphasized the importance of supporting the media industry.

Speaking on behalf of President Akufo-Addo at the 3rd African Media Convention, she highlighted the crucial role of the media in shaping public opinion, fostering democracy, and driving positive change.

Osei-Opare stressed the need for providing necessary resources and support to enable media professionals to carry out their work effectively.

She acknowledged the challenges facing the media landscape and called for collaboration between government, media stakeholders, and civil society to address issues such as press freedom, misinformation, and environmental sustainability.

Osei-Opare emphasized the importance of creating an enabling environment that fosters media freedom, innovation, and sustainability.

Information Minister-designate Fatimatu Abubakar echoed Osei-Opare’s sentiments, outlining the government’s initiatives to support the media industry, including capacity enhancement programs and mechanisms to combat misinformation.
