John Kumah to be Laid to Rest tomorrow

The family of the late Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah, Member of Parliament for Ejisu and Deputy Finance Minister, has announced that his final funeral rites will take place on May 18, 2024, at Onwe, a suburb of Ejisu.

The funeral service will be held at Onwie Roman Catholic School Park, beginning with a laying in state at 5 am, followed by a burial service at 10 am. Interment will take place at Aduapakye Royal Cemetery, and final funeral rites will be held at Onwie Roman Catholic School Park from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A thanksgiving service will be held at the same location on Sunday, May 19, 2024.

Dr. Kumah’s sudden passing on March 7, 2024, at the age of 45, sent shockwaves throughout Ghana, leaving a void in both the political and personal spheres. He is survived by his wife and six children.

In related news, Kwabena Boateng has emerged as the new Member of Parliament for Ejisu, following a by-election held after Dr. Kumah’s passing. Mr. Boateng secured victory with 27,782 votes, representing 55.79% of the total votes cast. His closest rival, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, garnered 21,536 votes, representing 43.24% of the votes.
