The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has begun hearings on a case brought by South Africa against Israel, accusing it of committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
South Africa has requested the court to order Israel to halt its military campaign in Rafah, southern Gaza, and allow unrestricted access for aid workers, journalists, and investigators.
South African lawyers argued that Israel’s actions are part of a broader campaign to destroy Gaza and its Palestinian population.
However, Israel’s Deputy Attorney General, Gilad Noam, countered that South Africa’s claims are a distortion of reality.
He stated that Israel’s military actions in Rafah aim to dismantle Hamas’s military stronghold, which will ultimately liberate Palestinians from the terrorist regime and pave the way for peace and prosperity.
The hearing was briefly interrupted by a protester who shouted “liars” during Israel’s submission. The ICJ is considering the case and will deliver its decision at a later date.”
