Two Brothers Arrested for Burning down House, Killing their Mother at Abuakwa Manhyia

Two siblings, believed to be mentally unstable, are in police custody for allegedly setting their house ablaze, resulting in the death of their mother.

According to the Assembly Member for the area, Evans Opoku, the brothers had a disagreement with their grandmother, who lives in the same house, and threatened to burn her alive. The grandmother, sensing danger, quickly reported the threat to the police station. While she was away, the brothers set the house on fire, unaware that their sick mother was inside.

The fire resulted in the death of their mother, and the charred body has been taken to the morgue. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.

“It was intentional, he was trying to burn the house and he wanted to kill his grandmother, but the grandmother rushed to the police station to report the guy that the guy has threatened to kill her,” Evans Opoku told the media on Wednesday. “So, what he was doing was to burn the house and the grandmother too. Not knowing that the grandmother had left. So, before they realised someone was burnt, it was the guy’s mother.”

The two siblings were arrested by the police, who stated that they caused the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
