Lil Win Drops Plans to Become MP Due to Lack of Funds

Popular Kumawood actor and movie producer, Kwadwo Nkansah, known as Lil Win, has announced his decision to step back from contesting in the upcoming parliamentary elections in December. Citing financial constraints as the main reason, Lil Win has postponed his political ambitions until 2028.

In a recent interview, Lil Win revealed that running a successful campaign requires substantial funding, which he currently lacks. “I am no longer contesting… I will contest in the next four years… I am waiting for that. I am going independent. Likewise, I can’t join a political party because I love both parties and have friends everywhere,” he said.

Lil Win had initially announced his intention to run for the parliamentary seat in the Afigya Kwabre South constituency in August 2023, after being approached by top personalities who encouraged him to contest. However, his decision to put his ambitions on hold comes a few days after former president John Dramani Mahama advised him against entering politics.

Despite his decision to step back, Lil Win remains committed to his passion for politics and serving his community. He plans to run as an independent candidate in the future, citing his affiliations with both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as the reason for his decision.
