The visit of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to the twin Island country Trinidad and Tobago from the end of July to the first week of August is now a lasting and treasured monument in the country.
The state visit has been recounted in a pictorial record, one of which has been gifted to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo by the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr the Hon Keith Rowley on his recent trip to Ghana.
This was announced by President Akufo-Addo during his remarks at the climax of the 25th Anniversary of Otumfuo on Sunday, May 12, 2024.
Titled “A King’s Voyage”, the President of Ghana described it as a compelling and beautiful record.
“I’ve had the privilege of being presented by the Prime Minister with the record, a pictorial record of that visit which has been named the ‘A King Voyage’.”
Asantehene made a historic journey to the South American country affording it the honour of witnessing “true royalty” since the inception of its history.
He is the first African King to visit the country.
During his five-day stay which began on June 30, 2023, His Majesty paid courtesy visits to the Country’s President, Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo and Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley, attended a Pan African Event- Trade and Investment Symposium and the Emancipation Day celebration.
He also delivered a lecture at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago (UWI/UTT) and undertook energy facility tours among others.
