Three Police Officers Interdicted for Misconduct During Voter Registration

Following their alleged failure to fulfill their duties professionally during the Limited Voter Registration Exercise, three members of the Ghana Police Service have been interdicted.

Inspector Michael Addo, G/CONST. Eric Boakye, and G/CONST. Michael Gyan faced interdiction on May 11, 2024, due to their purported mishandling of security responsibilities at the Electoral Commission Office in Adugyama, Ashanti Region.

A police statement revealed that the officers’ behavior did not meet the required standards when confronted with attempts to disrupt the registration process.

The interdicted personnel, according to the release, “failed to properly execute their duty as security officers at the Electoral Commission Office at Adugyama in the Ashanti region on 11th May, 2024, when certain individuals sought to disturb the ongoing Limited Voter Registration Exercise.”

The interdicted officers will undergo the necessary disciplinary procedures within the Police Service.

Three individuals sustained injuries during the incident but were promptly treated at the Mankranso Government Hospital before being discharged.
