Asantehene Urges Swift Response to Galamsey for Environmental Recovery

During the commemoration of his 25th year on the Golden Stool, Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, called for urgent measures to restore Ghana’s environment, deeply impacted by illegal mining activities known as Galamsey.
Asantehene stressed the critical need to combat Galamsey through all possible means, emphasizing the responsibility of the current generation in preserving the legacy left by their ancestors, which they cannot afford to compromise.
In a firm call to action, he advocated for decisive steps to reclaim the environment from Galamsey’s devastation, stating, “We must not allow a few individuals’ greed to destroy the precious heritage passed down to us. We must defeat this menace by any means necessary.”
Asantehene highlighted the importance of promoting economic growth and supporting local entrepreneurs in Ghana.
He also urged caution to avoid any disruptions to the electoral process as the country approaches elections.
