The Mankralo of the Ga State, Nii Adote Otintor II, has made a passionate appeal to the government to hand over the reconstruction of the Sempe Primary School to the traditional authority, urging swift action to ensure the project’s completion. The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), under the leadership of Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, initiated the construction of the millennium schools to address the school shift system in the Greater Accra metropolis. However, the project has been abandoned since the previous government left office, leaving the students and community in limbo.
Addressing the media, the Sempe Mantse emphasized the importance of completing the project, which was started with internally generated funds by the AMA. He highlighted the challenges faced by the students, who were relocated to a temporary shed, disrupting academic activities. As a traditional leader, he receives frequent complaints from residents and is eager to find a solution.
Nii Adote Otintor II criticized the Mayor of Accra, Elizabeth Kwatsoe Sackey, for failing to engage traditional authorities on projects in the Ga Traditional Area. He cited the example of a hostel facility for head porters at Agbogboloshie, where permits were issued without consulting the traditional authorities. He stressed the need for collaboration, as traditional authorities are the custodians of the land.
The Sempe Mantse reiterated his call for the government to hand over the project, ensuring its completion and benefiting the community. He urged the government to recognize the importance of traditional authorities in development projects, fostering a spirit of cooperation and progress.
