Dr. Lawrence Tetteh Vows to March on Presidency Over Delayed Signing of Anti-LGBTQ+ Bill

Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, Founder and President of the Worldwide Miracle Outreach, has criticized his fellow clergymen and women for their silence on the controversial anti-LGBTQ+ bill passed by Parliament in February.

Despite the bill currently being challenged in the Supreme Court, Dr. Tetteh believes President Akufo-Addo should have signed the bill into law without hesitation. He has vowed to lead a march to the seat of government if the President fails to sign the bill if the Supreme Court upholds its passage.

“Some prayers must also be held that will prove that the heart of the king is in the hands of God…..” Dr. Tetteh said, emphasizing the need for divine intervention in the matter.

Dr. Tetteh joins a growing list of religious leaders and groups pressuring the President to sign the bill into law. However, the Presidency has cited pending court cases as the reason for the delay, as stated in a letter to the Clerk to Parliament on March 18, 2024.

The bill’s fate remains uncertain as the Supreme Court deliberates on its legality, leaving many to wonder if President Akufo-Addo will eventually sign it into law. Dr. Tetteh’s call to action adds to the mounting pressure on the President to take a stance on the contentious issue.
