Courtroom Chaos: No Toilets Force Accused to Defecate in Public
- Accused defecates in courtroom
- Reports indicate similar incidents happening in the past
- The lack of restrooms affects not only defendants but also court staff
A peculiar incident unfolded at the Bole District Magistrate Court as an accused individual found himself in a dire situation, unable to control his bodily functions within the confines of the courtroom.
This peculiar occurrence transpired within the Savannah Region, where the court caters to various locales, including Bole, Sawla, and Damongo.
Regrettably, this event isn’t an anomaly. There have been reports of defendants resorting to such measures in courtrooms previously.
Moreover, the absence of restroom amenities doesn’t just affect the accused. Court personnel are also impacted, compelled to embark on a 3-kilometer trek to attend to their biological needs, disrupting their duties and causing undue inconvenience.
During this recent incident, legal proceedings came to a standstill when one of the accused experienced gastrointestinal distress.
Despite the urgency of the situation, the court was ill-equipped to offer assistance, exacerbating the distress and discomfort experienced by all parties involved.
Expressing their disappointment, individuals involved in other cases, alongside their clients, conveyed their frustration with the government and the judicial service for their failure to provide adequate restroom facilities within the court premises.
