In a move to ensure Ghanaian students can exercise their civic duty, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has authorized a four-day break for Senior High School (SHS) students aged 18 and above.

This break will coincide with the upcoming Electoral Commission Limited Registration Exercise scheduled for May 7th to 27th, 2024.

According to a statement issued by the GES, Head Teachers are instructed to grant students a leave of absence from Tuesday, May 7th to Friday, May 10th, 2024.

This will allow them to return to their home communities and register to vote.

The GES emphasizes that this directive upholds the constitutional right of all Ghanaian citizens, including those of voting age within the SHS student body, to participate in the electoral process.

Regional Directors of Education have been tasked with ensuring all Heads of Second Cycle Institutions under their authority comply with this directive.
