Two Off-Duty Police Officers Gunned Down at East Trasacco

Two off-duty police officers were tragically killed in a shooting incident outside their private residence at Block Factory, a suburb of East Trasacco in Accra, on Thursday evening.

According to reports, the shooting occurred at approximately 6:00 pm on May 2, 2024. The two officers were targeted and shot in front of their home, and the assailants fled the scene without taking any belongings from the victims.

The Ghana Police Service has issued a statement confirming the incident and announcing an intelligence-led operation to apprehend the perpetrators. “The Ghana Police Service is currently engaged in a vigorous manhunt for two unidentified gunmen responsible for the fatal shooting of two off-duty police officers outside their private residence at Block Factory, East Trasacco, Accra,” the statement read.

This incident comes after a military officer has been killed in a land dispute at Kasoa Millennium City in the Central Region, just three days ago. Lance Corporal (L/Cpl) Danso Michael of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

The GAF is unhappy about such occurrences and has announced that it is working closely with the Ghana Police Service to investigate the circumstances surrounding the soldier’s death. As part of the ongoing investigation, one individual has been arrested and is currently in police custody, assisting with the inquiries.
