Ghana and India have kicked off the fourth session of their Joint Trade Committee (JTC) meeting in Accra in order to bolster bilateral trade and economic cooperation,
The two-day meeting, which began on May 3, brings together trade officials from both nations to explore potential partnerships in key sectors such as pharmaceuticals, information technology, digital infrastructure, agriculture, and capacity building.
According to Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry and JTC Co-Chair, Michael Okyere Baafi, the long-standing relationship between Ghana and India, which predates Ghana’s independence, has been built on mutual respect and common interests. “Ghana has a special place in the heart of India, and we are committed to strengthening our trade ties,” he said.
The Deputy Minister highlighted the success of the previous JTC meeting in July 2022, which played a crucial role in Ghana achieving a trade surplus in 2023.
