Yaa Serwaa Sarpong, the Director of Support Services at Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML), vehemently denies allegations of receiving GH¢1,061,054,778.00 for a revenue mobilisation contract with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
President Akufo-Addo enlisted KPMG to conduct an audit of the GRA-SML contract on January 2. Following the audit, KPMG asserted that SML had been remunerated a total of GH¢1,061,054,778.00 from 2018 to the present. Despite previous denials of these payments by SML,
Yaa Serwaa Sarpong insists in an interview that they have only received compensation of 0.05 pesewas per liter for their services, directly contradicting the amount cited by KPMG. She maintains that the reported figure is inaccurate and emphasizes that SML has not received the alleged GH₵1 billion.
When pressed about the total sum received, Sarpong deflects, stating she is not the accountant and cannot provide an exact figure. She reiterates her disagreement with KPMG’s findings.
Subsequently, after thoroughly examining the audit report, President Akufo-Addo concurs with the recommendation to discontinue the upstream petroleum and minerals audit services that SML previously provided to the GRA.
