Amidst the ongoing erratic power supply, Health Minister-designate Bernard Okoe-Boye has advised health facilities to rely on alternative power sources, specifically generator sets, to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services.
Okoe-Boye’s call comes in response to pleas for health facilities to be exempt from the intermittent power cuts, which have been negatively impacting healthcare delivery.
During a visit to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Okoe-Boye addressed concerns about the challenges faced by the health sector, emphasizing the need for pragmatic discussions devoid of emotional sensationalism.
He stressed the importance of assessing the functionality of generators in hospitals and addressing any issues promptly, urging healthcare professionals to engage with the ministry to resolve power supply concerns effectively.
Okoe-Boye highlighted the existence of standby power plants in many hospitals but acknowledged the need for proper management and maintenance to ensure their reliability during power outages.
