Three individuals lost their lives in a devastating collision on the Ejisu-Konongo Highway in the Ashanti Region, with one person sustaining injuries, according to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
The incident, involving a Nissan Pick-Up and a Mitsubishi Fuso Truck, occurred at New Koforidua on Monday, April 29.
The GNFS reported that the crash caused significant damage to the Nissan Pick-Up and partial damage to the head of the Mitsubishi Fuso Truck.
The tragic event, which occurred around 16:30 hours, claimed the lives of three individuals, including Ghanaian Michael Obeng and two suspected Indian nationals.
Emergency services, led by Sarpong Francis Boateng, swiftly responded to the scene at 16:48 hours to conduct a rescue operation.
The GNFS praised the prompt action of both its personnel and the Ghana Police Service in rescuing the injured individual.
Meanwhile, on the same day, a fuel tanker explosion rattled the Kumasi-Accra Highway.
The tanker, a Man Diesel fuel truck, erupted in flames, causing injuries to three persons.
Despite the severity of the incident, GNFS firefighters managed to contain the fire within minutes. The cause of the explosion is currently under investigation.
