The Ghanaian side, nicknamed “The Still Believe lads,” were unable to overcome a two-goal deficit from the first leg in Cairo, which ended in a goalless draw.
Playing at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, Dreams FC conceded early as Hamza Mathlouthi capitalized on a defensive error from a set piece in the 12th minute. The misery doubled just 15 minutes later when Samson Akinyoola extended Zamalek’s lead.
Despite creating chances, Dreams FC couldn’t convert, leaving them trailing at halftime. Coach Karim Zito’s men hoped for a comeback in the second half, but their hopes were dashed when Mostafa Shalaby scored Zamalek’s third goal in the 60th minute.
Dreams FC fought valiantly but were ultimately unable to find a consolation goal in front of their home crowd. With the defeat, their dream run in the Confederation Cup comes to an end.
