Jurgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager on his way out, expressed his approval for Arne Slot, the Feyenoord boss who might take over the reins at Anfield.
Slot is reportedly in negotiations with Liverpool to become Klopp’s successor after the German steps down at the season’s end. Slot himself revealed his interest in the job on Thursday.
“There’s a lot to like about him if he’s the one chosen,” said Klopp. “Their style of play is impressive, and from everything I hear, he seems like a good person as well.”
Klopp seems enthusiastic about the potential change. “That’s a great combination – good character, good coaching skills – and the club will be in good hands if he’s the answer. I’m truly happy for him, it all sounds very promising.”
Liverpool is believed to be drawn to Slot’s attacking tactics, his talent for nurturing young players, and his overall personality. Slot’s achievements with Feyenoord are undeniable: winning the 2022-23 Eredivisie title, clinching the Dutch Cup this season, and likely finishing second in the league.
“With Liverpool not ending the season on a high note,” Klopp added, “it seems there’s room for Slot to make a positive impact.” This comes after Liverpool’s title hopes were dashed by their recent defeat to Everton.
