In a devastating incident along the road between Gomoa Akramah and Akoti Junction in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region, one police officer is feared dead, and multiple others left critically injured.

Reports indicate that a KIA Rhino truck with registration number GX 4135-24 suffered a brake malfunction, causing it to swerve off its path. Initially colliding with a vehicle owned by Chinese nationals, the truck then crashed into a police vehicle stationed at Akotsi Junction.

An eyewitness account reveals that some officers were inside the parked police car, while two others were in the trunk, possibly engaged in nearby purchases when the accident unfolded.

“The truck was descending from Gomoa Akramah hills towards Akotsi junction when it suddenly lost control, crossed the main road, and collided with the police vehicle parked on the roadside,” described Nai Appiah Nortey, an eyewitness. “Several officers were in the trunk, with some ejected upon impact. Tragically, one individual lost their life, and the injured have been swiftly transported to the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba, including the Chinese national involved.”

Authorities, including the Central East Regional Operations commander and other senior officers, swiftly responded to the scene to assess the magnitude of the tragedy and coordinate necessary assistance.
