Otumfuo Lauds Methodist Church’s Contribution To Development

The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has acknowledged the significant contribution of the Methodist Church of Ghana in the development of the country and commended them for their impactful operations.

He observes that the church’s operations go beyond people’s spiritual growth with considerable emphasis on improving the standard of living of the people.

“We cherish the works of the church in Ghana. In education, health and other sectors, you are driving the development of Ghana. It is one of the churches we know is helping people in all things including spiritual training,” he said during a courtesy call by the leadership of the church.

The delegation included the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Most Rev Paul Kwabena Boafo, the Past Presiding Bishop of the Church, Most Rev Prof. Emmanuel Asante and Lay President of the church, Brother Kwasi Attah-Antwi

The clergymen paid a courtesy visit on April 19, 2024, to inform the King about the creation of the Kumasi North Diocese, a newly created Diocese of the church in the region.

“Our growth in the Ashanti Region has been commendable. We already have three dioceses including, Obuasi, Effiduase and Kumasi. Kumasi continues to enlarge and it is now beyond the capacity of a single Bishop. We therefore thought it wise to create new Diocese out of it to afford the Bishops the convenience of visiting all circuits under their care.

“The Kumasi North Diocese has been created with its headquarters at Bantama. The Diocese will comprise KO, Wesley and Bantama. There will therefore be two Bishops in Kumasi. We couldn’t host a conference here to unveil it without informing Otumfuo about it,” the Presiding Bishop said.

He used the occasion to express his appreciation to the Palace for his selection to officiate the upcoming 25th Enstoolment Anniversary Thanksgiving Service of Otumfuo.

The event will take place on April 26, 2024, at the Manhyia Palace

Conference
He also informed Otumfuo about their upcoming conference in Kumasi which begins at the end of August through to the first week of September.

He said the conference will be his third and last as the Presiding Bishop of the Church.

Donation
