Thieves Seize Hearse Carrying Bodies en Route to Funeral

In a startling incident that has rattled the South African community, a Toyota Quantum ferrying deceased individuals to their final resting place was hijacked by criminals.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo revealed that the driver was left stranded midway as the perpetrators sped away with the vehicle.

The victim reported being taken against his will while driving along a highway.

Authorities clarified that the driver was operating a company vehicle belonging to Icebolethu Funerals, tasked with transporting four bodies to Durban.

Reportedly, two individuals wielding firearms forcibly removed the driver from the hearse, placing him in the back of a blue Renault Triber and concealing his identity.

During the ordeal, the suspects robbed the victim of his wallet, containing cash and a cellphone.

Subsequently, the stolen hearse was discovered abandoned, with the four deceased individuals still inside.

Law enforcement has initiated a case of kidnapping and is actively pursuing leads to apprehend the culprits.
