NPP’s Kwabena Boateng Secures 2nd Spot, Independent Aduomi at 4th in Ejisu By-Election Ballot

add three highlights The Electoral Commission (EC) has approved six contenders to compete in the upcoming Ejisu by-election on April 30th, according to Asaase News.

Following the closure of nominations on April 18th, where some candidates rushed to submit their paperwork at the EC office in the Ashanti Region, Lawyer Kwabena Boateng of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) claimed the second position on the ballot. Meanwhile, former MP Ing. Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, running as an independent candidate, secured the fourth spot. Beatrice Boakye from the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) was placed third.

In addition to these candidates, Esther Osei from the Convention People’s Party (CPP) claimed the first spot, with two other independent candidates, Gabriel Agyemang Joseph and Joseph Attakora, assigned to the fifth and sixth positions, respectively.

Prior to this, there was confusion when executives of the CPP reportedly hindered their parliamentary candidate, Esther Osei, from submitting her nomination application. Allegedly, the party’s Regional Chairman, Emmanuel Gallo, instructed the EC not to accept her documents, causing frustration for Osei’s campaign team. This incident arose from internal disputes within the CPP, amidst legal conflicts and the resignation of top party officials. Deputy National Organiser Eric Osei Boateng criticized the Regional Chairman’s actions, noting that the party’s internal issues had been resolved, allowing their candidate’s nomination to proceed.

Here is the complete list of candidates:
