A Chief Magistrate Court in Ikorodu has granted permission for substituted service of a DNA test notice intended for the son of the late singer, Ileriouluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, to be served on his wife, Wumi, at her last known address.

Following two unsuccessful attempts by the Sheriff to serve Wunmi the court documents mandating the DNA test for her son, the court approved a different approach, directing that the documents be posted at her last known address.

This decision was disclosed in a statement issued by Monoplane Odumosu, a member of the legal team representing the Aloba family, who confirmed the court’s directive.

Odumosu explained, “The Chief Magistrate granted the order and directed that the respondent be served by posting the court process at her last known address.”

The Aloba family has contested the paternity of baby Liam and filed an application before the Family Court, seeking an order against Wunmi to present herself and baby Liam for a DNA test at a recognized laboratory in Lagos.

However, counsel to Wunmi, Taiwo Olawanle, claimed ignorance of the court order, stating, “We don’t have the court order. If we have an order, we will advise her to adhere to it. That is not a problem. But we are not aware of any order.”

Mohbad, aged 27, passed away on September 12, 2023, under contentious circumstances, after leaving his record label, Marlian Music, owned by Naira Marley, in February 2022.

His death prompted an autopsy, with the Lagos State Police Command forming a special investigation team to probe the incident. Naira Marley and others were also arrested in connection with the case.

At the recent session of the Coroner’s inquest into his death in March 2024, Dr. Richard Somiari, the Director of the Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, assured that autopsy results would be available within the next three to four weeks.
