President Nana Akufo-Addo has expressed concern over what he perceives as the insufficient engagement of national service personnel within government institutions.
Emphasizing the government’s investment in the National Service Scheme, he highlighted the need for a greater return on this investment.
Speaking at the launch of the National Service Policy Document, the President outlined initiatives aimed at regulating deployment processes and enhancing learning opportunities during national service.
He emphasized the introduction of pedagogy training in collaboration with the National Teaching Council to enhance teaching quality and complement efforts to improve pupil-teacher ratios.
Furthermore, the President detailed plans to implement various programs outlined in the policy document, including an MSME accounting program to formalize the informal sector and specialized partnerships to boost tourism in Ghana.
He also highlighted initiatives to expand experimental agricultural programs and establish ICT hubs for service personnel.
President Akufo-Addo underscored that these measures seek to ensure the effective utilization of trained service personnel for meaningful community contributions.
He called on all stakeholders to support the scheme in achieving its objectives, expressing confidence that the reforms will position the National Service Scheme as a leader in West Africa and the broader African region.
